Apparently Global Smurfs Day is not a big holiday in this hemisphere, but Six Flags Magic Mountain will be marking it by handing out early ride wristbands to the first 200 guests who arrive at the park on June 22 dressed like a Smurf.
June 22 is the second day of summer, and according to Weather.com, June high temperatures average 88 degrees. The real heat doesn’t hit until August, and “Smurfs 2″ doesn’t hit movie theaters until July 31.
The Magic Mountain event isn’t listed on the Global Smurfs Day website, which in fact doesn’t list any Smurfs Day events for the United States at this time. The closest event is at the Plaza Cuicuilco in Mexico City.
Most Smurf events are in Europe, but the website doesn’t really say what they are. I’m most curious about the one at a cineplex in Skopje, Macedonia that advertises “Epic” and delicious looking nacho and Coke combos.
The website encourages people to engage in Smurf activities on Global Smurfs Day.
I’m unclear what Smurf activities are but I equate dressing like a Smurf with looking bad.
